THE VIP EXPERIENCE

You are the manager of a luxury hotel located in the heart of the city. It’s peak season, and the hotel is fully booked, but there are several guests with urgent issues at the front desk. Your job is to quickly prioritize the most pressing matters. 

You have 15 minutes to make decisions and offer solutions for each situation. First, as a group, choose the guest to assist first and provide a clear reason for your decision and solution. Then, you must provide solutions for the other situations. You all must agree and are not allowed to vote.

• A honeymoon couple arrives at the hotel, and their reserved room has been double-booked, with no other rooms available.

• A guest calls in, demanding to change their room to one with a view of the ocean, but the hotel is fully booked and there are no available ocean view rooms.

• A guest arrives at the hotel after a long international flight, but their reservation was lost due to a system error, and the hotel cannot accommodate them at this moment.

• A group of businessmen who are attending a conference at the hotel needs their rooms to be next to each other for convenience. Unfortunately, the rooms available are on different floors.

• A family of four arrives, and they have been traveling for hours only to find out that the breakfast vouchers they received are only valid for weekdays, not weekends.

• A guest demands a refund because they claim the air conditioning in their room is too noisy, although no other complaints have been reported.

Group Discussion 9:

AIRPORT EMERGENCY

You are the manager of an international airport. The terminal is crowded, and there are numerous passengers seeking assistance due to various problems. 

You and your team have 15 minutes to prioritize and provide solutions for the situations. Discuss and agree on the most urgent issue to handle first, then work through the rest.

• A passenger missed their flight due to a delay in security check, and now their flight is fully booked for the next few days.

• A traveler’s baggage has been lost, and they urgently need it as they are attending a wedding in a few hours.

• A family of five has just arrived, but their connecting flight to their final destination has been canceled due to severe weather, and the next available flight is not until the following day.

• A group of senior citizens is traveling on a connecting flight, but the airport security staff are unsure about how to assist them with expedited screening.

• A passenger is upset because their lounge access is denied due to a technical issue, even though they are a premium member.

• A traveler requests a refund for a ticket because their original flight was delayed by only 30 minutes, and they missed their connecting flight as a result.
